OMG, OMG, OMG

Another pic of Kaitlynn from a friend I met on the net!

I just love the fact that she is wearing a little bracelet on her chubby wrists, and look at the way the nanny is holding her so close. I figure this must be about last summer sometime, as it must be warm for her to be wearing shorts, and its before her surgery. That would make her about 14-15 months old.

How the world is small... and I am not going to be able to get anything done today, my heart is up into my neck and I can't stop staring at her.

Hurricane Dean and Typhoon Sepat

Both sides of the world are getting hit hard - first Hurricane Dean, which is heading towards Jamaica now, hit St. Lucia which is where we were married a year ago. I am hoping and praying that all the wonderful people that we met there are all right. The hospital in Castries lost there roof and it seems as if all crops have been lost (the news reports didn't specify which crops, but I assume the banana crops).

Then Typhoon Sepat, which has hit Taiwan, and is on its way towards mainland China. The province just below where Kaitlynn is, Fujian, has evacuated some 900 000 people. Now there saying as it continues over land it will fall to a tropical storm... but I can't help but wonder if she is all right, if she isn't scared of that wind and rain. Hopefully, someone is holding her tight for me.

So thanks to our wonderful friend Ernest, we have found out that Chun Mei is a very very beautiful name!

Chun = Spring
Mei = Blossom (the plum blossom, in particular), plum is the direct translation but Chun Mei written together is understood as Spring Blossom.

Significance
1. The blossoms of a plum tree are usually the first sign of spring. They blossom very early, even in the coldness of spring to welcome its arrival.
2. "It has great symbolic value for the Chinese because of its resilience in the harsh winter weather."
3. The plum blossoms are very pretty white and pink flowers giving a delicate fragrance. (see pic above)

4. It is also the national flower of Taiwan.
5. It has good feng shui as the plum fruit signifies abundance and wealth.

A little Retail Therapy never hurts....

I had my moment of Zen buying these outfits for Kaitlynn. What fun to go and find matching outfits, and tights and socks and headbands... oh my!

Welcome to Kaitlynn's cafe - an opportunity for everyone to sit down and have a cup-a and learn about our latest addition to our family.

Kaitlynn Chunmei is currently in Danyang, which is about 68 km from Nanjing in the Jiangsu province. Whenever I check the temperature over there, its humid and hot - 33 degrees C. It also seems that they are getting quite the downpour in a number of provinces... hope she is all right!

Last week was a whirlwind of activity - I wanted to get a care package to her, along with our LOI. I managed to get a scrapbook done for her:

I also sent her a coloring book with crayons, butterfly and heart stickers, a little dolly, some Dora figurines, a Sunshine toy that makes music (boys chose this), a little pop up book, a toothbrush, and a Camera for the caregivers to take pictures of her and her surroundings so that we have a memory book for her when she is here:





So come along with us to our journey to Kaitlynn - lots of excitement in store as we get ready for a journey of a lifetime.
